Travelling Chic Travel in Style
“You are what you wear,” my godmother told me once.
“Besides having good skin, the type of clothes you wear and the kinds of accessories you use says a lot about who you are, where you’re from, what you do and how you feel about yourself and others.”
My godmother is almost 80 years old and in her younger day was a makeup advisor and a beautician. She takes good care of her appearance and partakes in the world’s beauty culture. She doesn’t apologize to anyone for her choices and preferences, and I respect that.
I always admire ladies who age gracefully. Often when I travel, I find that European ladies get more stylish as they get older – they never give up on their appearance. There is something so beautiful about a woman who is comfortable in her own skin and the stage of life she is in.
I always believe that we don’t need clothes from the best brands and hottest designers to look fashionable. The most important step is to take care of our personal hygiene and appearance, and wear clothes that suit our body type which makes us effortlessly stylish. As long as you feel confident, others will also feel so.
How can you look put together and pretty with simple but fashionable clothes when you travel?
- Beauty is an investment
From facial treatment, hair treatment, and mani-pedi, to a daily skincare routine, I will make sure to put in the effort to maintain an effortlessly chic look when I travel.
2. Access your fashion escalator and travel light
Check the weather and pack your clothes – a pair of jeans, a nice skirt or shorts, leggings, two slip dresses, a cardigan or jacket, and two comfortable T-Shirts. And don’t bring more than three pairs of shoes.
3. Accessorise the right way
Scarves and more scarves! Scarves are travellers best friend, it is light enough to carry and can change the look of an entire outfit. A great travel scarf is our head and shoulder covering for places of worship, a blanket for freezing aeroplane, bus, boat and train ride, and a makeshift towel as a beach cover-up. And don’t forget the hats and sunglasses to complete the look!
